Unexpected work

Got a call at about 11:30 tonight asking if I knew I was supposed to be working. I, obviously, didn't so we got Ericka ready for bed and then I headed in. Had a bit of work when I got here, but now things have died down. I brought my laptop so I hope to work on the manuscript I'm editing for a bit. And, in the meantime, I'll be getting eight hours of overtime, which won't suck.

I'm still down a bit because of the business with Laura. I dearly hope she doesn't think she needs to attempt suicide to escape the situation as she felt in the past. I'm going to check with Greyhound to see if there's a way to have a ticket waiting for her whenever she might want one. That way, she wouldn't need money or to finagle a credit card called in or anything to get away from her mom. Just show up and get on the bus.

A friend pointed me to a site exploring encapsulating one's day in three words. I don't think its evocative enough, but it inspires me to try haiku.

burning neck muscles
a stone nearby my heart
yet resolve and hope
