Assuming I pass the background check (and there's no reason to think I won't), I will start a contract position with Capella, an online university, next week Wednesday. It'll pay enough to pay the mortgage, which is what I really need right now. I also hope the experience will make me a favorable candidate for other positions there. I've applied for a few, but never had an interview. 90_percent_sure seems to like working there well enough and the downtown location suits me well.
This doesn't mean that we are off the hook from foreclosure just yet. First, this is just a 4-8 week contract. So not enough to make the bank think about modifying my loan. Also, while it will pay the mortgage going forward for a month or two, it won't also pay the amount I'm already behind. So we'll go forward with an auction of some kind over on accessiblehouse, where folks have already been very generous with donations.
It feels good, though, to have a little work coming my way. Here's hoping it keeps coming and keeps getting better!
