In that ninth Corey Koskie lead off with a solid double off the left field wall. David Ortiz extended his hitting streak with a single, sending Koskie to third. Ortiz then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Bobby Kielty hit a soft grounder toward third which held Ortiz at second and produced the first out at home on a close play and Koskie tried to slide around the Chicago catcher. Anti-climatically, Michael Cuddyer hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the game. Sigh. (I was surprised that Jones or Hunter didn't pinch-hit for Cuddyer.)
Still, exciting game and a crowd of 29,000+ on a Tuesday evening.
