09:16 am - Make-up redux
The waifish girl from yesterday's bus ride to work was on the bus again this morning despite the fact that I was running later than usual. Once again she was applying make-up. I think this rules out performance art and that she has simply adopted this as her routine.

I feel oddly like a know her a little bit now. She was wearing the same cute shoes she had on yesterday but had traded pinstriped pants for polka-dotted dress. If she's on the bus tomorrow I shall have to ask about this habit of applying make-up on the bus.

morning routine

To me it's one thing to touch up or apply lipstick, and quite another to start at foundation on the bus. I may have mentioned on LJ at some point, but I dislike seeing people engaged in personal grooming in public. I have the same issue with people shaving or clipping toenails at the gym, especially when they perform these tasks in the communal shower.

This appears, to my untrained eye, to be serious make-up application. It starts with something to conceal the dark circles under her eyes and other minor imperfections. Moves on to a fascinating application of some sort of powder from a container that has a circle segmented into several shades of color. This same powder is used to define and shape eyes, cheeks, forehead. Today she was further into the routine and applied mascara and curled her eyelashes.

It seems sub-optimal to me to peform this process on the bus. The jostling and such would result in disastrous misapplications, I would think. I can see where it would could annoy some but, for the moment, I just find it curious. I suppose it helps that she is otherwise attractive.

Serious make-up application = poor manners.

But I think it's equally poor manners to comment to her about it.
