Preparing for work

I have most everything worked out for my first day tomorrow. The first thing I have to do is go to orientation at the Hennepin County Government Center. I am to be there by 8:00 a.m. So, using Metro Transit's trip planner, my two best options seem to be to catch the 3A bus at the end of my block at 7:20 and get off at the corner of 4th St. and 4th Ave. downtown and walk the couple of blocks to the Government Center or to catch the 3A at 7:12, get off at the Metrodome (which is where my regular work will be) and transfer to the light rail to zip up to the Government Plaza stop. I'm leaning toward the train option because, hey, train!

It's warmed up from sub-zero overnight temps so that opens up wardrobe options for me. I figure I'll go with khakis and a button-down shirt. Training is 8:00 a.m. to noon and I'm guessing I'm supposed to go to my regular work location after, so I want to be a little dressed up, but things seemed pretty business-casual when I was interviewing. I'll grab the train for the zip back up to the Metrodome station and walk the two blocks over to the office.

Then, I'm at a loss for what I'll actually be doing the rest of the day. I suppose I'll meet a bunch of people and get a desk somewhere. I can confirm things like dress code, schedule and like that.

I'm doing pretty well at shifting my schedule to days. The only difficulty right now is that I've been having/needing a mid-morning nap at about 10:00 a.m. I expect that I'll be running on adrenaline for most of tomorrow, so I hope that won't be a problem.

It's so weird. It's been a long time since I wanted to go to work.
