02:22 am - Catch up and looking forward
The weekend whirred by in a spate of MN-Stf, sleep and pouncing kitten. In there, I finished the novel by local guitar hero Adam Stemple and his mom; nice, quick read that was well-suited to being read in the little chunks of time during my "lunch" breaks at work. I've started on Adam's solo novel now and it's also going along well.

Of course, I've got a story of my own on the back burner. Reading good stuff helps with that, though. For one thing, I've noticed a difference in the structure and language used by Adam and his mom that doesn't fit my style. Theirs isn't bad (and they are different from each other), it just isn't me. That's to be expected, I suppose.

There's a drum jam and dance at the Cedar Cultural Center Wednesday night. minnehaha K has been prodding me to get out and do this for what seems like a month. I'm looking forward to it. I noticed that, as I dressed for work today, I put on a dark green t-shirt and that, because this was too colorful, I found a black fuzzy long-sleeved shirt to put on over it. Yep, definitely time to do something non-depressing and drumming and dancing the night away sounds like just the thing. And hey, there will be fire dancers! And beer! What to wear?

Got a nice email from brithistorian yesterday with a lead on a job at the place he and his wife work. It's a technical writing gig and, from what she had to say about it when I queried, I might be a good fit. I'll be getting back to her in the morning and will send along a resume. Thanks guys!

Good luck with the lead on the new job, chief. Merrill is sucking the soul right out of you. At first it was slowly, but now - now you can't even wear the colors of the forest without feeling wrong about it!

I didn't realize that Adam was writing. Can you post or e-mail (or both) the titles of the pair of books you mentioned? I look forward to checking them out.
