Well, now I want to head home

So in my continuing quest to re-define what it is that I want to do with my life, I've struck upon an interesting plan. A lot of what I think I want to do involves film in some fashion and I have no experience with producing film. One of the things that I like about the idea, however, is working with other creative professionals. So, I thought I'd shoot email off to my friends robin_d_laws, revjohn and jtidball and see if any or all of them would be interested in coming up with a short script that I could then shoot.

I'm interested in making some short films to try my hand at things and allow me as much control over the process from start to finish as possible. The goal being to see what I like of the process so I know where to concentrate my efforts. If I don't like directing, do I like the cinematography portion of it? Does the project management part of scheduling shoots and arranging resources do it for me?

Of course, these guys all have their day jobs and their own creative projects and so they might not have the time to do something new with me. On the other hand, they may have a little snippet of an idea that isn't going to grow up to be a novel, feature script, pilot, whatever, that they'd be willing to toss my way.

I'm waffling over going out and purchasing a mid-range digital camcorder or waiting until I have something to shoot and maybe renting or borrowing one. We'll see. Either way, I'm excited about this idea and, seeing as work appears to be caught up to about 5:00 p.m. tonight, I think I'm going to try to sneak out a bit early.
