I'm interested in making some short films to try my hand at things and allow me as much control over the process from start to finish as possible. The goal being to see what I like of the process so I know where to concentrate my efforts. If I don't like directing, do I like the cinematography portion of it? Does the project management part of scheduling shoots and arranging resources do it for me?
Of course, these guys all have their day jobs and their own creative projects and so they might not have the time to do something new with me. On the other hand, they may have a little snippet of an idea that isn't going to grow up to be a novel, feature script, pilot, whatever, that they'd be willing to toss my way.
I'm waffling over going out and purchasing a mid-range digital camcorder or waiting until I have something to shoot and maybe renting or borrowing one. We'll see. Either way, I'm excited about this idea and, seeing as work appears to be caught up to about 5:00 p.m. tonight, I think I'm going to try to sneak out a bit early.
