|08:54 pm - Whirly weekend|
Saturday morning erickavan convinced me to go to the emergency room in order to get the ultrasound needed to confirm my gallstone diagnosis done. It was that or wait for Wednesday. So I spent a good chunk of the morning (read 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) hanging out in the St. John's hospital emergency room. I brought along the latest Year's Best Fantasy and Horror short story collection, though, so it passed without too much boredom.
The results of the ultrasound, however, were negative. I don't have gallstones. WTF? So what's been causing my symptoms for over a week? Have to get back to my doctor this week, if possible, and find out. I'm wondering if maybe I passed the gallstones, as I haven't had any symptoms today. Anything's possible, I suppose.
In the later afternoon, I zipped over to the mnstf meeting and hung out for a little while. But then it was back home to get dinner for Ericka and the animals and, because the place where she was showing is a hop and a skip from my place, over to see 90_percent_sure's Art-A-Whirl showing.
I'd been forewarned about the steps, so they weren't too daunting and I found 90_percent_sure at the top of them, encamped on the pink leather couch. We chatted for a bit and then the gallery shut down for regular showing and started their party. It was a funky warehouse with art on the walls, free, good beer and a decent band playing exactly the kind of music you want to listen to when you're drinking beer in a funky warehouse with a bunch of art and artists. Fun! The decent band finished up and a more-sucky band started up, so the place emptied out and we finally got out of there a little after midnight.
I went back today to get some pictures of 90_percent_sure's beads for her and then returned home to run some errands and watch the Twins game. It was a great outing by our Cy Young Award Winner, but my TiVo stopped recording after the three hours that most games take. So I was left in limbo, having last seen that the Brewers were up by a run in the ninth as the Twins came to bat. I'm very pleased to see that the team tied it up and went on to beat the Brewers in 11 innings. I bet it was exciting. I'll have to go read Bat Girl for her take on it.
I night of TV awaits me, with a couple of movies and some specials on the Discovery channel called "The Science of Star Wars." I think they probably don't quite get the point that Star Wars isn't about the science, but, hey, should be fun to see the latest spiffy gadgets and such.

Sorry I missed you at Minn-StF.
Kevin and my folks and I were at the game today. Johan started out shaky and then was great. Very tough game to watch, though. There were times we contemplated leaving early, but we hung in there. And got to see a Twins win in extra innings! Oooh, exciting!
There were a total of 17 strikeouts in the game, I think. At least 16. For the Twins, that is. So the electronic board where the put the Ks up was full. And the Ks got progressively tinier. We kept wanting more strikeouts just to see how they'd fit them up there.
I'm very glad Johan didn't get a loss. What is up with Torii? Man. Our fielding has been spotty at times. And Terry Tiffee was terrible at the plate.

Johan looked good to me for most of the game. I'd have to go back and look at the play-by-play of those first innings to be sure, but, hey, no-hitter through six is good enough for me! And yes, what is up with Torii? The Batlings were getting on him pretty hard in the game thread when I went for a look. Seems there are slumps a-plenty breaking up the lineup. Tonight's game at Cleveland is a good example. Stewart and Cuddyer had decent games (from my misty memory) but we just couldn't get enough hits strung together to pull out the win. Tough loss for Lohse.
You got out at about midnight; I was more like 2am. I had to find out what the Milli Vanilli kid was talking about.
I really should of skipped the Milli Vanilli, and gone to another party where I was not only missed, but being quoted! I'm like all famous.
I am still weeping at the thought of your absence. You missed a good party!

And I generate no weeping? I feel so non-famous.

You were stuck with Milli Vanilli man for another two hours!? Man, that sucks. You should have got out of there and had more fun.
I was personally and professionally torn between the Milli Vanilli, the beer, the band in which all members looked like Beck and leaving to go to Other Party. But in the end I just went home and slept. Probably for the best since I heard Other Party went to till the wee, wee hours, while warehouse party only went till the wee hours.
