Today is my normal night off of work and I think I'll keep it, just to make sure that I am, indeed, finally on the mend and won't be re-lapsing. Besides, it will let me play with my new toy!
I received delivery of my brand-new digital camera, the Olympus C-770 Ultra Zoom, yesterday. I charged up the battery last night (and the spare I bought), and took a few test photos. I've determined that its autofocus doesn't deal with low-light conditions well. Not to worry, as it will allow manual focus, as well as a bunch of other spiffy options. I chose this model because it has the biggest optical zoom of the cameras that were in my price range. I'm sorely tempted by the digital SLRs and the big lenses they can sport, but they are still a bit out of my reach.
They type of photos I like to take, the things that catch my eye, are portraits. I remember faces far better than names (just had a dream last night after viewing fredcritter's Confusion pics in which I was at a convention, passed him in the hall and called him "Dean"). So, I wanted a longer lens to draw an interesting subject closer and this was about as good as I could get.
So I'll be playing around today, taking photos with the various settings and like that. I'll post any interesting things that pop up, but there will be a lot of experimenting.
(Re: today's music selection, the iTunes Music Store is running a deal on the Grammy winners, $2 of their albums. Getting this album for under $10 seemed a no-brainer.)
