Nice couple of days

I've had the last couple of days off of work. You see, Wednesday night is the Thanksgiving holiday time off for us third shifters. (The theory being that if you want/need to travel to spend Thanksgiving with your family, having Thursday night off isn't that big of a help.) But I don't work Wednesdays normally so the option for work was either to pay me eight hours of overtime this week or give me my holiday on another day. They chose the latter, naturally, and I took my holiday on Tuesday.

This was mainly because I had a job interview on Wednesday morning. The interview went pretty well. I met with four people, one after the other, and they seemed increasing impressed with my resume as we went along. It was a little weird to have to go through some of the same information four times, but it was gratifying to have the people I'd actually be working with recognize that I'd be good at what they're asking me to do. (It's a web position in their Public Affairs group.)

We've had our buddy Darwin, the enthusiastic lab/shepherd mix staying with us since Tuesday as well. His humans are off visiting family for the holiday. So it's been nice having an extra dog around to snuggle with. (Brandy can't jump up on the bed anymore, so snuggling with her means lying on the floor.)

I'm expecting work to be pretty slow for the rest of the week. We have a 650-page job in house just now, but it's not due until Monday, so that shouldn't be too hard.

One of those nights

Well, the last few pages of the 650-page job we started last night were still here when I got in. They're finished now and there's no more work. For those keeping score at home, this translates to nearly 10 full hours with nothing to do.

One can only browse the (filtered for work) web for so long.

At least I've brought a big bag of M&Ms.
