10:24 pm - Back at it
After missing a few days of work due to general malaise and some nagging ailments, I'm at work tonight. The result of this, of course, is that there is nothing to do at work. We have one job that is waiting for graphics, it's due at 7:00 a.m. Another four are due before 1:00 p.m. and they are all in final quality check. One of those is getting its final edits by the person sitting next to me as I type.

We are generally slow over the summer, so this is to be expected. I'll try to capitalize on this opportunity and get some other stuff done.

In the morning, I'm meeting with our neighborhood organization's community gardening coordinator. I'm going to be helping with web pages for the various community gardens. I'll also get a chance to show off the prairie to someone that'll truly appreciate it. I hope.

Our niece is still with us. We went out and saw Pedro Wong's Hungarian Bistro, a performance at Dudley Rigg's with "juggling, comedy and a dead guy." It was reasonably cool. As a juggler, there were only a couple of moments of "oh, that's cool" but the overall performance was quite enjoyable. There are two more shows coming up and if folks were looking for a fun night of juggling, comedy and so on, it delivers.

Before the show, we had dinner at Green Mill across the street. Ericka and Nikki both sang the praises of the pizza. I wanted something a little lighter, being not so hungry and rather warm. I had the pasta primavera and was not impressed; overdone asparagus and zucchini and sun-dried tomatoes in a strangely heavy sauce. Though I boxed it up to take home, I ended up tossing it due to lack of refrigerator space.

In way of compensation, I made my own pasta primavera last night. Peeled and seeded and chopped some some nice hydroponic tomatoes while I cooked up some spaghetti. Portioned frozen peas into bowls. Added basil and a bit of salt to the tomatoes. Put hot pasta over the peas to thaw and cook them slightly, added tomatoes and parmesan. Let it sit for a bit, stirred and ate. Got raves from Ericka and I enjoyed it as well.

I think that I just don't get enough vegetables in my diet as my digestive system protested this sudden influx, causing me to miss the night of work. I feel somehow virtuous, nonetheless.
