06:47 am - Busier night
The night has flown past because we've had work all night. This is a welcome variation from the way things have been since last week. Only now, as shifts change, have things slowed down to the point that I have time to write this entry.

Took the string trimmer to the lawn yesterday, cleaning up bits of things left from the last mowing and working to subdue the dandelions and other weeds. I think I may have twisted my left elbow a bit, as it was giving me twinges for a chunk of the early evening. Fortunately, it settled down by the time I had to go to work.

Storms threatened all of yesterday afternoon, to the dismay of my poor pup. We did end up down in the basement, but I never was aware of any storms developing. Supposed to be nice today, but it was so cool and dark in the basement that I may give sleeping down there another go today.

While hanging out with the dog, I started reading Live the Life You Love : In Ten Easy Step-By Step Lessons by Barbara Sher, author of Wishcraft, which I remember liking from when I read it a long while back. The first easy lesson is figuring out what motivates me. I need to think on this some as I don't have a good feel for it yet. I'm tempted to say "pleasure," I do things because I like to do them, but that's not quite right. I need to figure out what about doing some things makes me like doing them. One thing I know: telling me to do something makes me less likely to do it. If I was going to do laundry today and, when I arrived home, Ericka asked me if I'd do some laundry, I'd find some way to procrastinate it. Stuff has to be my idea or it doesn't get done. Things that are my idea, I'll give up things like food, sleep and money to do them. My prairie garden is a good example; it's a lot of work, but it's wholly my idea so I make time to do it.
Current Mood: contemplativecontemplative
