Lazy night

Apart from one ASAP job, it's another lazy Friday night here at work. There is currently one job in house; due at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. I'm lacking in motivation to work on something that could easily be finished by the first shift on Monday, not to mention the weekend shifts.

Got to watch the beginning of Twins interleague play before coming to work tonight. An impressive win against the Florida Marlins. After they smacked around the Marlins' starting pitcher for five runs in the first inning, I suspected that it was going to be a long night for Florida. Depending on when I awake, I might go to the game tomorrow. It's autograph party day so it might be fun to go and see some former and current players. I wouldn't mind saying "hi" to Kent Hrbeck or even Al Newman (who I always liked as a utility player). I'm not into autographs and such, however, so I might end up with an autograph card that would get filed next to my autographed photo of James Doohan. Had to purchase that photo to get the chance to chat with him for a brief moment and treasure the memory of the chat much more than the photo.

Also want to get out and ride my bike again. It's been a couple of days and I want to build up my condition so that riding to work and working eight hours will be an easy thing.

But then I'd also like to get out and play some poker, which I haven't done in months.

So many thing to do. So little time.

I've noticed, of late, this bit of Southern-Californa speak has re-entered my speech patterns. I'm still wrestling with it to decide whether I like it or not. It has, going against it, a certain connotation to lifestyles and practices that I was never part of when I lived in San Diego and certainly aren't about to take up now. (Though the thought of quitting my job and becoming a globe-trotting surfer has its appeal.)

On the plus side, it has a zen-like spareness of expression coupled with a flexibility of meaning. Capable of being everthing from a smack on the head with a thorny stick to a jocular self-condemnation to expressing soulful empathy.
