Back to work

I was not at work on Friday night as I felt kinda wonky and worn out. Was OK for Saturday and most of Sunday, but then Monday was off again. It felt like I was spiking a mild fever about every four hours or so. Wish it would have just gone up to something respectable like 102 and stayed there for a day and got it over with. The up and down was maddening. Too hot. Now cold. Now hot again. Arrgh!

Apparently, I missed out on some excitement yesterday. The Word tool we're now using for some of our typeset jobs has only a handful of us trained in on its use and a slew of work for that tool came in last night. Both I and the co-worker who is the technical lead for the tool on third shift were out sick so it was left to the second string of folks to get it done. All worked out just fine from all accounts, so that's good to know.

Tonight, it's slow again. Good thing I'm here to get paid. At least I'll be able to help fredcritter with a problem that he had with a job last night. That'll make me feel useful.

In other news, I was nominated to run for the MN-Stf Board of Directors. Got the call from the Recording Secretary this evening. Haven't decided whether to stand for the position yet. On the one hand, being on the Board of Directors of a non-profit organization is bound to look OK on the resume and the position largely demands getting together with people that are my friends anyway once a month. On the other hand, the job has few rewards and could easily put me in a position to be reviled (albeit in abstract; I'd be one of The Board). Still have a couple of days to work it out so I'll mull on it a bit.
