A night of no work

There's lots of stuff to be proofread, but most of it is the mindless, repetitive edit jobs that I was saddled with last night. So the prospect of any corrections coming out of that process is slim. Which leaves me with a night of nothing to do. I'm tempted to figure out how much extra the holiday pay on Wednesday night was in order to justify cutting out early.

Truth be told, though, I don't have anything pressing to do at home. I'm in the middle of watching the "Appendices" of the first two Lord of the Rings DVD sets. Got the second one earlier this week and watched the film itself on Monday, IIRC. Where there were bits of the first book that I missed in the first movie, the only thing I can think of missing in the second film is Merry and Pippin getting off to do their soldiering in Gondor and Rohan. But since that happens after the rest of the Fellowship comes to Isengard (again, IIRC) that'll not happen until the third film anyway. So the extra and extended scenes in this second DVD set weren't as readily apparent to and appreciated by me.

So rather than request to go home early, I think I'll stay here, putter about a bit; maybe even get a few more hundred words into my NaNoWriMo. No real chance of making 50,000 words, but I think it's been a good experience in any case. And I think my story outline is decent enough that it could still come together into something cohesive. So I'll keep plugging away at it and see what I can accomplish.
