Sleepy day, busy night = No NaNo!

Got to sleep at a decent time after work yesterday. Was woken up once by the dogs that visit each Wednesday. But there's something pleasant about being woken up by an enthusiastic lab mix romping onto your bed and rolling up against you. So no harm there.

Got up at about 5:30. At a couple of peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches. Laid down on the couch and swiftly fell asleep to awaken again about 11:00. Good thing this was my night for coming in at midnight!

We've had a fairly busy night at work. I've put three jobs into Quality Check myself. We have two gentlemen from our Indian joint venture over learning our processes and such. They'll be here for six months, learn our Word-to-typeset tools and go back to be the instructors for the rest of that group.

Which means, of course, that in about a year, most of the work for that tool will be going over to India the way that most of our Word-to-HTML work does now. So that's kind of the time line for finding a new job for me. I can't imagine that the economics of having the work done in India will keep many people employed on this side of the planet. At least not in the same roles.

All of this sleeping and busyness means that I didn't a chance to write for my NaNoNovel today. Of course, now that I have a spare minute, I'm spending it here rather than there ... but I rationalize that I only have a couple of hours left here at work, I'll be getting a couple of those jobs back from QC and setting up and taking down the laptop isn't worth the hassle.

I hope to get in some time once I get home. Perhaps a half hour or so before I head to bed. We'll have to see.
