This was a test game for me. Firstly, the Mariners had swept the Twins at home the last time they were in town so it was a test to see just how well the Twins were playing. And secondly, it was the first time I'd be sitting in the upper general admission seats. A friend had given me a voucher for two of those tickets free so I figured this would be a good time to use them.
The Twins passed their test, and played very good baseball to beat the Mariners 5-4. They took an early 4-0 lead and held on until the 7th when the Mariners scored four runs to tie the game. But, once again, utility infielder Chris Gomez, playing for the injured Corey Koskie, came through with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 8th. Eddie Guardado came in and got a smooth save.
The upper deck seats in the outfield were OK. A bit far from the action, as you might expect, but also a bit hard to hear the PA announcer at times. Though that might have something to do with the screaming teenagers sitting in the same section. I missed a couple of substitutions but got the gist of the game just fine. Still, I think I'll keep my lower-deck seats all the same.
