Cool weekend

Saturdays always seems to slide by without me noticing. I chill out from the week of work, catch up on mail and such and, before I know it, the whole day is over. This Saturday past was no different. I watched the Twins/Brewers game. I slept. Next thing I know, it's Sunday. And yet I feel quite relaxed and good.

Sunday was the wedding of our friend David Mueller. It was held in a park overlooking the river down near Hastings. Total hippie wedding. Flowers everywhere. Bride and groom in buckskin. Blessings from all kinds of people from all kinds of sources from Native American to I Ching to whatever from of Christianity David's father is a pastor of. Went on far too long for my taste, but then it wasn't my wedding.

Coolest part was the photo after the ceremony. They'd hired a guy with an antique panoramic camera. The box camera sits on a platform on a tripod that rotates through about 240 degrees. Attached behind it is another box with the film that has a wind-up mechanism that moves the film past the shutter as the camera rotates. The end result will be a long photo with, literally, everyone in it. Much nicer than the hours of posing this group and that group while the rest of the guests enjoy the food.
