|08:46 am - Up early for the funeral|
Things have been pretty OK here at the services for Ericka's uncle. We had a bit of a rough drive down, but, having made it to Madison, it was all downhill from there; in the sense that it was easier than getting to Madison.
Tolls on the Illinois tollways have increased dramatically since we last passed this way. Crossing the border from Wisconsin to Illinois on I-90 now costs you an even dollar. On the way out to Rock Falls, IL along I-88, we were charged $1.90 at the one toll booth we passed.
The highlight of the trip has been Ericka getting to see her godson, her brother and sister-in-law Walter and Janice's son Wesley.
A godson clearly happy to see his aunt.
And a godmother equally happy to see her nephew.
Today is the funeral and burial. No word yet if I'm going to be a pallbearer.
I did have to buy a new pair of shoes to go with my suit as I'd left my other good shoes at home. I was thinking I'd return this pair to the Wal-Mart across the street when I was finished, but they seem pretty comfy and so I might hang on to them. That would mean that I'd bought something at a Wal-Mart, though. Don't know if I can live with that.
Current Mood: calm

Thanks, David! I'll look at the maps before we head back (likely late Monday night). I have a bit of trepidation of the "haven't been here before and these signs aren't all that helpful" sort, but staying on major highways shouldn't be a problem.

This is the first time I've seen Ericka, glad to see her! And that baby is ADORABLE!

I posted a pic of E once before, you musta missed it. And yeah, Wesley is a cutie-pie.
I'm so down with that baby. Live long and prosper, little man!
